There’s an old, uniquely shaped building with the current address of 401 NW 2nd St. that I want to tell you about.  When it was built in 1894 it housed a bakery, with the official name of United States Baking Co., Marsh Scantlin & Co. branch, but usually referred to as Marsh-Scantlin.

In 1910 the bakery was bought out by the National Biscuit Co., which kept this bakery open until the early 1920s.  FACT: You may know the National Biscuit Co. by the name it adopted in 1971, Nabisco.

Fred Geiger and Sons, a moving and storage business, moved into this building by 1922.

The business became affiliated with United Van Lines around 1960, but continued to use the same building.

Fast forward to today.  This building still stands in all its “around the corner” shape, and today houses two restaurants.

Clearly this 1894 building has been restored.  When you shift your view to the right side of the building, you see the old National Biscuit Company name.
